Batavia Dance Team to host IHSA competition

The Batavia Dance Team will host an IHSA Competition on Saturday, Dec. 3, at Batavia High School.

More than 20 suburban 1A, 2A, and 3A high schools will be competing, including Batavia. Local high schools that will be performing include St. Charles North, St. Charles East, Oswego East, West Chicago and Larkin. The theme of the competition will be "Dance Nation."

As the host team, Batavia's varsity and junior varsity teams will be performing two routines. Batavia varsity, coached by Angela Fuqua, will be performing a lyrical routine to "Stone Cold" and a jazz routine to "Unstoppable."

The junior varsity, coached by Susan Fricke, will be performing a pom routine to "Hit the Lights" and a lyrical routine to "Unchained Melody."

Varsity coach Angela Fuqua is excited to see the performances of the other schools attending, especially since some of the top teams in the state will be competing.

Although it is early in the competition season, Batavia is looking forward to hosting and competing.

The competition starts at 8:30 a.m. at the school, 1201 Main St. The community is welcome to attend. Admission is $8 or $5 for students and seniors.
