Kane Co. Board vice chairman coasts to re-election

Despite recent pushback from Longmeadow Parkway opponents, voters in Kane County's 18th District re-elected one of the most vocal supporters of the pending toll bridge Tuesday.

Unofficial votes showed incumbent Republican Drew Frasz with 5,571 votes compared to 3,183 votes for his Democratic challenger Nicolas Jimenez with 6 out of 10 precincts reporting.

Frasz is the chairman of the county board's transportation committee, which oversees the Longmeadow Parkway project. County board members are expected to vote on borrowing up to $30 million to begin construction of the toll bridge part of the 5.6-mile roadway in 2017. That's a plan Frasz has supported in his votes and on the campaign trail. Jimenez said he opposed the parkway.
