Lawlor coasts to reelection to Lake County Board
Lake County Board member Aaron Lawlor coasted to re-election Tuesday night.
Lawlor, a Vernon Hills Republican, thumped first-time Democratic candidate Gerri Songer of Hawthorn Woods 7,763 to 6,130 in the race for the 18th District seat, unofficial results showed.
Lawlor has been on the county board since 2009 and has been its chairman since 2012.
Lawlor has undertaken a variety of high-profile initiatives, most recently as co-chair of the Lake County Mental Health Coalition. He created buzz earlier this year by withdrawing his support of the proposed Route 53 extension into Lake County.
