Kenyon wins close contest in Kane County District 16

Voters in Kane County's 16th District county board race showed Tuesday they don't want county board Chairman Chris Lauzen's second term to go unchallenged. Mike Kenyon once again defeated Democrat Jennifer Barconi in a rematch of their 2012 contest.

Unofficial results show Kenyon receiving 4,081 votes compared to 3,881 votes with all 11 precincts reporting. Kenyon campaigned on a platform of being a Republican who could rein in Lauzen, whom Kenyon described as a "junkyard bully."

Kenyon's 200-vote victory provided a much narrower margin than his first contest against Barconi. In 2012, he beat her by 400 votes.
