Reick beats Bartman for 63rd House District

Republican Steven Reick has beaten Democrat John Bartman in the 63rd House District race in McHenry County.

With 65 of 73 precincts reporting Tuesday in unofficial totals, Reick garnered 55 percent of the votes.

The seat is being vacated by Democrat Jack Franks, who Tuesday was elected McHenry County's first elected county board chairman.

Reick, a tax attorney from Harvard, handily beat a member of Franks' fundraising committee in the primary. Reick lost to Franks in 2014.

Bartman, a Marengo farmer, served as chairman of the Democratic Party of McHenry County.

The 63rd District includes all or parts of Alden, Greenwood, Harvard, Hebron, Johnsburg, Marengo, McCullom Lake, McHenry, Pistakee Highlands, Richmond, Ringwood, Union, Wonder Lake and Woodstock.
