Elliott victorious in DuPage County District 4

In a race between two newcomers to the DuPage County Board scene, Republican Tim Elliott was elected Tuesday to a 4-year term representing District 4.

With all 160 precincts reporting, unofficial results showed Elliott with nearly 62 percent of the votes. He had 39,782 votes. His Democratic opponent, Khizar Jafri, received 24,610 votes.

Elliott, a Glen Ellyn resident, is an attorney who has been a member of his town's village board since 2013.

District 4 covers all or parts of Addison, Bloomingdale, Carol Stream, Glen Ellyn, Glendale Heights, Lisle, Lombard, Wheaton and Winfield.

During the campaign, Elliott said that he supports the county board's successful efforts to hold the line on property taxes and its attempts to pursue government consolidation. He said he wants DuPage to focus on reducing its debt.
