MCC to present 'The Heidi Chronicles'

The Black Box Theatre at McHenry County College will present Wendy Wasserstein's Pulitzer Prize winning play "The Heidi Chronicles" at 7:30 p.m. Nov. 10-12 and 17-19 in the Black Box Theatre, Building E, off Parking Lot C at the college, 8900 Route 14, Crystal Lake.

Funny, touching, and written with grace and sensitivity, "The Heidi Chronicles" is an examination of the progress of a generation, from the socially and politically activist '60s to the success-oriented '80s - a time when the status of American women underwent profound, and sometimes unsettling, change.

"The Heidi Chronicles" is the winner of the Pulitzer Prize, the Tony Award, the New York Drama Critics Circle Award, the Outer Critics Circle Award, the Drama Desk Award, the Hull-Warriner Award and the Susan Smith Blackburn Prize.

It is a significant and celebrated play, which was first presented by off-Broadway's Playwrights Horizons and went on to become a long-run Broadway success, according to Dramatist Play Service.

"The Heidi Chronicles" is directed by Jay Geller of Kildeer, with assistant director Matthew Torres of Crystal Lake, set design by Thomas Kesling of Glenview, lighting design by Richard Amundsen of Woodstock, costume design by Susan Cowell of Harvard, stage manager Kacie Swanson of Woodstock and assistant stage manager Samantha Catalano of McHenry.

The cast includes Monica Hauschild, Vincent Calucci, and Celia Villacres, all of McHenry; Sam Prather and Jessica Piekarski, both of Crystal Lake; Lara Bell of Johnsburg; Emily Piesens of Spring Grove; and Sean Plotts of Wonder Lake.

Tickets are $15 for the general public and $10 for students, MCC faculty, staff and administration, seniors and alumni. For reservations, call (815) 455-8746, email jgeller@mchenry.edu or visit www.mchenry.edu/artevents/.
