Naperville's Turkey Shoot golf tournament supports recreation scholarships

Golfers are invited to gather a fivesome and register for one of the most festive tournaments of the year, the Naperville Park District's annual Turkey Shoot.

Three separate cross-country Turkey Shoots will take place, each with a field of up to 90 players or 18 fivesome teams, on Saturday and Sunday, Nov. 19 and 20, at Naperville Park District's Springbrook and Naperbrook golf courses. Teams may select their course and day of choice: Springbrook or Naperbrook on Nov. 19, or Springbrook on Nov. 20. All three events will begin at 10 a.m.

Continuing a tradition of generosity, Turkey Shoot golfers may choose to donate the cash equivalent of their free turkey to the Naperville Parks Foundation in support of golf or recreation scholarships for local families or individuals in need.

Registration for the tournament costs $40 per person or $200 for a team, and will take place in person only beginning at 8 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 12, at Naperbrook Golf Course, 22204 W. 111th/Hassert Blvd., Plainfield. Springbrook is located at 2220 W. 83rd St., Naperville.

"We look forward to this tournament, which is open to anyone willing to brave the weather and test their skills in a fun, nine-hole scramble format," said Tim Dunn, head golf professional at Naperbrook Golf Course. "The camaraderie among players and generosity of both our sponsors and donors make the Turkey Shoot a memorable way to end the golf tournament season."
