Palatine Jaycees host STEM fair Nov. 10

The Palatine Jaycees, as part of their Adopt-a-School Day program, are hosting a free STEM Fair from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 10, at Lake Louise Elementary School, 500 N. Jonathan Drive in Palatine.

The Jaycees have partnered with Northern Illinois University to coordinate over 70 activities for children kindergarten through six grades. These activities promote the concept of STEM, which stands for Science, Technology, Engineering and Math.

"The STEM fair is a fun way for the entire family to learn about concepts such as energy, waves, light and optics, electricity and much more," said Courtney Kulig, project co-chair.

Sponsors for the event include Family & Cosmetic Dentistry, Kensington Insurance, Photo's Hotdogs, and Learning Resources Inc. Free snacks and door prizes will be available to participants.

Adopt-A-School Day (AASD) is a day of service to schools that is initiated and facilitated by the Junior Chamber International (JCI), also known as the Jaycees. The AASD program works with businesses, organizations and schools to create one day where collaboration, vision and service can make a difference for a school.
