Hampton opens in Schaumburg

Even before the new Hampton Inn & Suites by Hilton opened on Oct. 26, it was nominated as "Rookie of the Year" by the Schaumburg Business Association.

While it didn't win at the SBA's recent award ceremony, the nomination was considered good luck for the new 107-room hotel at 891 Plaza Drive in Schaumburg, near Woodfield Mall. The Hampton will hold its grand opening Wednesday with Mayor Al Larson, SBA board members and others expected to attend.

"It was the first time the SBA had a nominee whose business was not even opened yet," said Carlos Madinya, director of sales and marketing.

The new hotel is aiming to accommodate those traveling for business at nearby corporate offices for Zurich, Pepsi, Paylocity, Verizon, United Health Group, Capital One, Motorola Solutions and others, Madinya said.

It offers free Wi-Fi, a 24-hour business center with complimentary printing, 594 square feet of meeting space, and a fitness center.
