Texan who received belated candy prize goes to World Series

GRAND PRAIRIE, Texas (AP) - A Dallas-area man who received a Louisville Slugger glove nearly 60 years after a bubble gum and baseball card contest has enjoyed another treat from the candy company.

Darwin Day of Grand Prairie attended the World Series in Cleveland, courtesy of Topps Confectionary Brands.

The Dallas Morning News (http://bit.ly/2eipncx ) reports the 70-year-old Day and a Topps executive, Tony Jacobs, became friends via email and texts after the Texan recently claimed a prize from a 1950s contest.

The two pledged to get together, with Topps picking up the tab. Jacobs says he called Day and the pair met in Cleveland for Game 2 of the World Series. The Cubs won 5-1.

Day, who's a Texas fan, gives tours at the home of the Rangers - Globe Life Park in Arlington.
