Fire burns at southwest Indiana paper recycling business

EVANSVILLE, Ind. (AP) - Authorities say a large fire is burning at a southwest Indiana business that handles paper shredding and recycling.

No injuries are reported from the fire at Piranha Mobile Shredding and Recycling in Evansville, which was spotted about 4:30 a.m. Friday.

WFIE-TV reports a fire official says paper inside the building could burn into the weekend.

Crews fought the fire from outside the building. The Evansville Courier & Press reports firefighters held off on going inside because they worried about the possibility of 10-foot tall bales of shredded paper falling. The cause of the fire is under investigation.

Paper is bundled and recycled at the facility. Craig Holder, a route manager for Piranha, said the business will cease operations until they can find another facility to store shredded paper.
