More videos released of Cook County jail brawls

Cook County Sheriff Tom Dart has released additional video of a brawl Tuesday between numerous inmates housed in the Cook County Jail's Division 9 maximum security area that injured three guards and eight prisoners. The jail is on West 31st Street in Chicago.

All three deputies were treated and released. At least two of the deputies suffered injuries after being struck food trays thrown at them by inmates. All eight of the inmates taken to area hospitals were back in jail by Thursday. Many were treated for puncture wounds, officials in Dart's office said.

According to Dart's office, four of the eight inmates injured are being held on murder charges, another for attempted murder, one for armed robbery, one for home invasion with a firearm and the last on drug charges.

The cause of the brawl is still under investigation.

In the first video, which contains no audio, a two inmates are arguing in a crowd when a third man walks across the room to confront one of the men. The argument escalates and as the third man becomes more agitated and takes his shirt off, a fourth man takes a swing and a melee ensues. Guards enter the room en masse about 90 seconds after the fight erupted.

Meanwhile, fights in two other tiers of the maximum security section of the jail broke out as well. Videos from those brawls were released Friday and show smaller groups of inmates brawling and flinging trays across the room until guards show up and restore order using pepper spray and other methods.
