Healthy Lombard receives grant

The Healthy Lombard Foundation recently received a $1,000 grant from the TCF Foundation in recognition of the difference the organization is making to address childhood obesity and promote a healthier lifestyle for the community.

Healthy Lombard will use the money to support its Triple A Approach to change that consists of Awareness, Activities, and the celebration of Achievement.

Some activities include a Fitness February Fair, the cable show "Health Local," the sponsorship of healthy kid-focused events, and the yearly presentation of Health Hero awards.

The money also will be used to update the Healthy Lombard website, heathlylombard.com, which has received more than 2 million hits since 2015.

Begun in 2010, Healthy Lombard has expanded from its original eight partners to include more than 40 community groups and organizations interested in creating a healthier environment for kids and their families to learn how to make the healthy choice the easy choice.

The TCF Foundation, the philanthropic arm of TCF National Bank, provides charitable contributions to nonprofit organizations in education, human services, community development and the arts.

The foundation allocates grants to organizations in the communities in which TCF offices are located, and to organizations engaged in nonprofit activities designed to improve the economic and social well-being of local communities.
