Dallas Cowboys owner offers North Little Rock police tickets

NORTH LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (AP) - Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones has offered tickets for any of the NFL team's five remaining home games, including travel and hotel costs, to North Little Rock uniformed police officers and their families as a gesture of gratitude.

The Arkansas Democrat-Gazette (http://bit.ly/2e1mGyf ) reports that Jones grew up in North Little Rock. A city spokesman says a little more than 100 of the department's 179 uniformed officers plan to attend one of the remaining games with family members.

Mayor Joe Smith says this was a way to say thank you to the officers and their families.

City attorney Jason Carter says that because of state ethics laws regarding gifts valued at more than $100, the North Little Rock City Council had to approve a resolution for the city to accept Jones' gift.
