Louisville, Western Kentucky to start 3-game series in 2018

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (AP) - Louisville and Western Kentucky will meet in 2018 in the first of three games that includes a neutral-site matchup in Nashville.

That meeting in Louisville will mark the first between the schools located 112 miles apart since 1998, a 68-34 home win by the Cardinals. The Hilltoppers, coached by former Cardinals quarterback Jeff Brohm, will also visit in 2020 with the 2019 game being played at Nissan Stadium in Nashville.

Louisville coach Bobby Petrino coached WKU in 2013 before returning for a second stint with the Cardinals. Brohm was promoted from offensive coordinator to be Petrino's successor.

Louisville athletic director Tom Jurich said in a release Thursday that it's "great for both schools that we were able to resume this series against an in-state school of Western Kentucky's caliber."
