Indiana police to discuss voter fraud probe no further

INDIANAPOLIS (AP) - The prosecutor in Indiana's most populous county has asked State Police to release no additional information on its investigation into possible voter fraud in 56 of the state's counties.

Marion County Prosecutor Terry Curry said in a statement Wednesday he had spoken with State Police Superintendent Doug Carter and asked the agency to comment no further on the investigation.

Curry says "confidentiality is important to allow investigators to continue their work independently and to avoid material prejudice in the matter."

State Police spokesman Capt. Dave Bursten says the agency will abide by Curry's request and comment no further comments on its probe.

The agency has said its investigation includes possible forgery of signatures on voter registration applications collected by Patriot Majority USA, a group with ties to the Democratic Party.
