Lions trade LB Van Noy to Patriots and sign LB Josh Bynes

ALLEN PARK, Mich. (AP) - The Detroit Lions have traded linebacker Kyle Van Noy to the New England Patriots.

The Lions also signed linebacker Josh Bynes on Tuesday.

Detroit drafted Van Noy out of BYU in the second round with the 40th overall pick in 2014 and he didn't appear to pan out as a key player. Van Noy became a first-time starter this season and had 23 tackles.

Bynes started 11 games and played in 16 last season with the Lions, making 80 tackles. He played in 13 games for the Lions in 2014 after spending the first three years of his career with the Baltimore Ravens.
