Girls volleyball: Lakes, Stevenson notch regional wins

McKenna Lahr had 13 kills, 5 aces, 2 blocks and 9 digs, and Lakes' girls volleyball team survived a scare from 12th-seeded Antioch, winning 10-25, 25-17, 25-15 in the Class 4A Waukegan regional semifinals on Tuesday night.

Erica Grant pounded 8 kills, Katie Billetdeaux added 6 kills and 2 blocks, and Rachel Orpano dished out 33 assists for No. 5 Lakes (25-10), which advances to Thursday's 6 p.m. final against No. 4 Palatine. The Pirates rallied to beat No. 13 Barrington 15-25, 25-20, 27-25.

Lakes' other contributors included Kaylee Lebron (4 kills), Paige Bartlett (9 digs), Toyin Jackson (2 aces, 8 digs) and Kelly Zeason (3 kills, 2 assists, 1 block).

Stevenson d. Wauconda: At Buffalo Grove, the second-seeded Patriots advanced to the Class 4A regional final thanks to a 25-16, 25-20 win.

Stevenson (29-7) will play No. 7 Wheeling in Thursday's 6 p.m. final.

Wheeling d. Grayslake Central: At Buffalo Grove, the seventh-seeded Wildcats rallied for an 18-25, 25-22, 25-22 win over the 10th-seeded Rams in the Class 4A regional semifinal.

Wheeling will play No. 2 Stevenson in Thursday's 6 p.m. final.

Grayslake Central finished 18-15.

Vernon Hills d. Johnsburg: At Vernon Hills, the eighth-seeded Cougars rallied for a 19-25, 25-22, 25-20 win on their home court, ousting the ninth-seeded Skyhawks and earning a berth in the Class 3A regional final.

Vernon Hills will play top-seeded Marian Central in Thursday's 6 p.m. final.

Marian Central swept No. 17 Alcott coop 25-6, 25-11.

Carmel d. Disney: At Northside, the second-seeded Corsairs cruised to 25-4, 25-5 win over the No, 18 seed in their Class 3A regional semifinal.

Carmel will play No. 10 Northside in Thursday's 6 p.m. final.

Lake Zurich d. Highland Park: At Deerfield, the sixth-seeded Bears advanced to the Class 4A regional final by outlasting the 11th-seeded Giants 18-25, 25-19, 25-16.

Lake Zurich will play No. 3 Lake Forest in the final at 6 p.m. Thursday. Lake Forest beat 14th-seeded Deerfield 25-19, 25-20.

Libertyville d. Mundelein: At Warren, the top-seeded Wildcats beat the 16th-seeded Mustangs 25-10, 25-13 to earn a berth in Thursday's 6 p.m. Class 4A regional final.

Libertyville (25-11) will play No. 8 Warren.
