Early voting is underway in Lake County

Voting booths were busy Tuesday at the Lake County Central Permit Center in Libertyville as residents got a jump on Election Day duties.

Early voting officially began Sept. 29 at the Lake County clerk's office in Waukegan, but is now available at 14 sites in the county. Some sites are open every day of the week, including Sunday.

According to election judges at the permit center, there has been a steady flow of people since early voting began Monday.

"Voting is an important right that we have, it is a privilege actually," Don Mahlmeister of Vernon Hills said after voting. "I think the early voting is going to be impactful. I think there will be more voting percentage-wise than in past years. People really like early voting. I think there are a lot more people who really want to have their vote counted."
