Barb's Precious Rescue Hosts Fundraiser To Benefit Homeless Cats

Barb's Precious Rescue and Adoption Center, Palatine, hosted their first annual Precious Pets Party on Sunday, October 16th. The event took place at the Cotillion Banquet Hall, 360 S. Creekside Drive, Palatine. More than 100 guests were in attendance for the luncheon.

The afternoon started off with entertainer "Noodles the Wonder Dog" who joined the event to provide amazing pet tricks.

Steve Dale, of "Pet World on WGN Radio", was the MC and Guest Speaker. Steve is an animal behaviorist and consultant and was on-hand to answer questions the audience had about their pet's health or behavior.

Barb Weber, founder of the Pet Rescue, updated the group on adoptions during the rescue's first two years, and on expansion plans. The all-volunteer rescue has adopted out 350 cats in its first two years. Preliminary plans are in process for an addition to the current facility.

The schedule included some great items for their silent auction as well as a wine pull. The wine pull sold out in less than one half-hour. The silent auction had more than 50 items, with something for everyone from sports, to designer purses, to pet related items. Donors were very creative in their selection of gift baskets to donate for the silent auction. They included multiple Chicago Cubs related baskets, a Death by Chocolate basket, wine baskets, and baskets with cat related items, to name a few.

Donors for the event included: Louise Basgall, Lynn Berk, Chris Dignan, Melissa Carlson, Jim Durlak, Mary Ann Hetreed, Connie Launius, George & Kathy Passi, Geralyn Pawelski, Regina Roland, and Joy Soderman. Sponsors included: Bentley's Corner Barkery, Chicago Distilling Co, A Closer Bond Dog Training, Coopers Hawk Winery, Cotillion Banquets, Lynfred Winery, Manzo's Banquets, Massage Envy, MB Financial Bank, PRP Wines, Timesavers, Vera Bradley, and Wildfire Restaurant.
