Prairie Ridge blanks Dundee-Crown

Special teams, offense and defense.

The 2016 Prairie Ridge Wolves certainly possess the total package.

That dominance was on display as the Wolves clobbered Dundee-Crown 62-0 in a Fox Valley Conference contest in Carpentersville Friday night.

The Wolves won the Fox Valley Conference with an 8-0 slate and completed a perfect 9-0 regular season for the first time since 2007.

"These kids are so levelheaded and disciplined and they come ready to practice every day and play every week," said PR coach Chris Schremp. "We have special athletes on offense, defense and on special teams. We believe if keeping playing like we did in the regular season we will be a team to be reckoned with in the playoffs."

D-C coach Mike Steinhaus was impressed with the Wolves.

"They are a very talented team and they hit us in the mouth early," said Steinhaus. "They have very good athletes and they play hard. They certainly have the talent to go far in the playoffs."

Scoring on their first 5 possessions of the game, the Wolves seized control of the game.

Junior quarterback Samson Evans, who completed 4-of-6 passes for 97 yards, threw touchdown passes to Austin Ferbet of 33 and 16 yards. Ferbet caught 3 passes for 68 yards and 2 scores while Nicholas Hamilton grabbed a pass for 29 yards.

Evans, who ran 11 times for 121 yards. also scored on a 41-yard quarterback keeper. Zach Gulbransen ran for an 11-yard TD and Cole Brown scampered 5 yards to pay dirt as the Wolves raced to a 35-0 lead with 9:01 left before halftime.

Evans displayed his excellence as a punt returner, returning a kick 57 yards for a TD to give the Wolves their sixth TD of the half.

PR, which led 48-0 at halftime, scored its second special teams touchdown of the game early in the third quarter. Jacob Ommen blocked Ruben Rojas' punt which was recovered by Nikolaus Koelblinger for a 13-yard TD.

Gulbransen, who scored a second touchdown on a 41-yard run, gained 117 yards on 8 carries. Backup quarterback Trevor Potter ran 6 times for 90 yards as the Wolves compiled 361 yards on the ground and 458 yards of total offense and picked up 23 first downs.

D-C quarterback Conor Ryan, who was 3-for-13 for 33 yards was intercepted twice by Potter.

Senior running back Greg Williams, playing his last game at D-C (2-7, 1-6), gained 48 yards on 13 carries.

'The kids fought hard all season," said Steinhaus. "We had 30 kids who gave me everything they had all season. We had some winnable games we let get away. But, I will miss the seniors. They are a very special group."
