Register for seminars on different dementias

Senior Helpers, in conjunction with Advocate Lutheran General Hospital, is proud to sponsor two educational seminars Wednesday, Nov. 2, at Advocate Lutheran General Hospital's Olson Auditorium, in Park Ridge.

Nationally renowned dementia care educator Teepa Snow will use true-to-life stories and case studies to help educate professional health care providers, from 9 a.m.-noon and family members caring for loved ones from 3:30-5 p.m.

When you attend either of the Alzheimer's/Parkinson's/dementia seminars with Teepa Snow, you will receive a free Alzheimer's DVD and the new Parkinson's DVD.

"Teepa Snow, with more than 30 years of experience, has a unique perspective on how the brain controls our body and our behaviors, giving her the ability to explain how dementia affects a person's thoughts and actions.

"The free DVDs that have been created help people who suffer from these diseases and their loved ones understand the medical impact on their lives," said Bob Tucker, a qualified dementia care provider and co-owner of the Senior Helpers office serving the North and Northwest suburbs.

Senior Helpers and Teepa Snow have joined forces in a program called Senior GEMSĀ®, which helps professionals and family members care for those battling these diseases. Teepa's unique classification system makes it easier for people to understand which stage of dementia a person is experiencing, and provides tools to improve the lives of all those impacted by these diseases.

"Teepa Snow's personal mission is to help health care professionals and families care for people suffering from Alzheimer's disease and other forms of dementia ... and she does it so well," said Abbie Tucker, a senior advocate and client services director, certified senior adviser, a qualified dementia care provider and co-owner of the local Senior Helpers office.

To register for the family event, call (847) 564-7500 or email rtucker@seniorhelpers.com. This is a free program.

To register, visit www.regonline.com/chicagoteepa2016. Three CNEs/CEUs will be available to health care professionals for a $30 fee. The fee for other professionals is $15.
