Girls volleyball: Christiansen sets up Pirates' 30th win

The assists kept coming for Sydney Christiansen, and so did the Pirates' 30th win.

Palatine's senior setter collected 24 assists in the Pirates 25-16, 25-11 victory over host Wheeling in Tuesday's Mid-Suburban League second-place crossover game.

Christiansen went over the 2,500 mark for assists in her career when the Pirates (30-5) won the Maine West Pumpkin Invite on Saturday.

According to the IHSA record books, only 14 players have 2,500 or more assists.

One of Christiansen's key targets on Tuesday was Rhode Island-bound Claire Chaplinsky, who put down 13 kills followed by Haley Holz (5), Beverly Ryan (3) and Brooke Bauer (2).

Memphis bound Alyssa Kronberg was 11-of-11 serve receiving and collected 14 digs for the Pirates, who will finalize their regular season at the Lake Park Invite this weekend.

Timber Terrell led Wheeling (23-12) with 5 kills while Rochelle Laude added 3. Jessica Janowski handed out 10 assists.

Prospect d. Barrington: Host Prospect raised it record to 22-8 with a 22-25, 25-15, 26-24 MSL crossover victory.

Kaela Myers (10 kills), Maggie Porwit (8), Mandy Withey (5), Meghan Meredith (4) and Mary Mazurek (4) led the Knights on attack while Paige Gerber set the offense with 26 assists.

Meredith made 8 blocks while Porwit and Myers had 3 apiece.

Porwit led with 18 digs followed by Myers (15), Kendra Gancarz (13), Emma Cogan (10) and Gerber (7).

Gabrielle Morris (11 kills), Peyton Tilly (9) and Cecilia Stack (9) led the Fillies.

Rolling Meadows d. Schaumburg: Maddie Sellgren (11 kills) and Katie Zanocco (7) were top attackers for host Meadows (22-12-1) in a 25-17, 25-19 MSL crossover victory.

Natalie Klancnik and Madeline Rebsamen each added 2 kills while Krya Amundson had 1 for Meadows. Klancnik had 9 assists and Mallory King 7.

Morgan Sterrett and Mallory Gerber had 7 kill apiece for Schaumburg (13-18) while Julia Spitelli added 3. Jordyn Harberts handed out 16 assists.

Elk Grove d. Hoffman Estates: Rachel Kandefer (10 kills, 4 blocks), Emma Slattery (8 kills), Isabel Michniak (27 digs), Johanna Duckmann (2 aces), Jenny Banak (17 digs, 2 aces), and Mary Cronin (6 kills, 22 assists) helped lead the host Grenadiers (5-21) to a 20-25, 25-19, 25- MSL crossover victory.

Monraia Wilson (5 kills), Natalie Pethes (4) and Janiah Fowler (2) led the attack for Hoffman (3-31) while Ashley Poland had 15 digs.

Marist d. St. Viator: Marist won the East Suburban Catholic Conference match 25-22, 25-11 over the Lions (16-19) who were led by on attack by Kendall Claffey (4 kills), Katie Kerrigan (3), Kate Nottoli (3) and Catherine Hickey (2).

Michaela Mueller handed out 13 assists and Carrrie Leazer collected 14 digs.
