Endorsement: Blackburn for Will County auditor

If these two men were not running against each other, what a team they would make.

Democrat Duffy Blackburn is seeking his third term as Will County auditor. He has garnered state and national awards for the county for transparency. Too, he was 2011 Illinois County Auditor of the Year. He leads seminars for government bodies and fraud detection programs with the state's attorney.

Newcomer Gary Good is running for his first political office. A Republican, he brings more than 22 years of military service, including time at the Pentagon, where he wrote the Army's Business Management Strategy. He says making numbers available is only a part of transparency - it is important for people to understand what those figures tell us. That, coupled with fraud detection practices, would save money and point to inefficiencies.

Voters are fortunate to have two well-qualified candidates. The quality of Blackburn's work is well-established, and he gets our endorsement.
