Arlington Heights police receive national awards

The Arlington Heights Police Department recently was recognized with several awards from the International Association of Chiefs of Police.

At the organization's annual conference in San Diego, the department won first place in the 2016 National Law Enforcement Challenge for all municipal departments with between 101 and 350 sworn officers. The National Law Enforcement Challenge is a national highway safety competition designed to recognize exemplary traffic safety programs and to encourage departments to prioritize education and enforcement activities in the target areas of impaired driving, occupant protection, and speed enforcement.

The department also won the Clayton J. Hall Memorial Award, which goes to a law enforcement agency that is judged to have the most comprehensive traffic safety program in the nation and best represents what a successful traffic safety program should be.
