Illinois trade show company to move operations to Indiana

NORTH JUDSON, Ind. (AP) - A business that organizes trade show exhibits has announced that it's moving from the Chicago suburbs to North Judson in northern Indiana.

Romeoville, Illinois-based Outstanding Tradeshow Exhibit Services plans to spend $1.2 million to buy, renovate and equip a 74,000-square-foot facility. OTES founder and president Nan Wellman says that "fiscally, Indiana is a better fit" for her company. The company plans to transfer eight existing jobs to Indiana and create up to 15 new jobs by 2019.

The Indiana Economic Development Corporation offered the company up to $115,000 in conditional tax credits. The town of North Judson approved additional incentives.

The move comes amid an economic rivalry between the two states dating to 2011 when northwest Indiana officials ran an advertising campaign to lure Illinois businesses.
