Police treating Barrington Hills man's death as a homicide

The death of a Barrington Hills man found in a burning car in Chicago last month is being treated as a homicide by Chicago police.

James D. Gerage, 43, co-owner of Elgin-based Omega Demolition Corp., was found Sept. 23 in the back seat of a burning car on the 600 block of West 21st Street near the Chicago River.

Nobody has been charged in the death, Chicago police officer Kevin Quaid said.

The Cook County medical examiner's office has not yet made a ruling, however, "pending further studies."
