Broken track lights in need of repair

I am on a super limited budget. My furniture, carpets and lighting is so awful in my front room that I'm embarrassed to let anybody come over. I have a new grandson who is only 7 months old and I won't let him lay on my floors or couches.

Only one socket works in the old track lighting, so it's really dim on that side of the front room. I want to get rid of this old furniture because it's embarrassing, but I can't move it myself or afford to buy new stuff.

It would mean the absolute world to me to win this contest. I would feel like I won the lottery. Then maybe I can finally invite my family over for dinner. Thank you so much for considering me.

Budget: $3,000

The room has dim lighting and old mismatched furniture.

The family could benefit from a coffee table to replace the card tables placed in front of the couch. A center rug would help to detract from the worn carpet and would center the space.

Suggestions:

• Replace the pull chain ceiling fan with a simple, close-to-the-ceiling bronze fan like Fanimation's Xeno.

• Update the track light to a modern LED fixture that is tighter to the ceiling. The power is off center so a track light is your best option without electrical work. Access Lighting has some budget-friendly styles.

• Add some color and cover up the worn carpet with a colorful area rug. Surya has styles and materials for all budgets. The Aberdine collection has a modern pattern that would liven up the space.

• Replace the card tables with a simple coffee table. This will still provide you with the needed surface but will instantly make the space more sophisticated. The coffee table will ground the area rug so it does not look like it is floating in the space.
