Boys soccer: St. Edward, Harvest Christian win 1A regional titles

AJ Franklin scored twice and Josh Johansen added a goal as the St. Edward boys soccer team defeated Hinckley-Big Rock 3-1 in double overtime Friday to win the Class 1A H-BR regional championship. Zach Olenek had 2 assists in the win and Will Gaston added one. Evan Sajtar made 3 saves in goal.

The Green Wave (17-4-1) will play Wednesday in the Genoa-Kingston sectional semifinals against Oregon, which won its own regional on Friday.

Harvest Christian 1, Genoa-Kingston 0: Raphael DeSouza scored in the 55th minute off an assist from Aaron Ptak to lead the Lions to the Class 1A regional title at Indian Creek. Harvest will play Tuesday at the Genoa-Kingston sectional against the winner of Saturday's regional final at Rockford Christian between the host school and Stillman Valley.
