Luigui Corral named first Hispanic member of North Shore-Barrington realtors group

Luigui Corral, broker/owner of RE/MAX United in Wheeling and Round Lake Beach, has become the first Hispanic member of the board of directors of the North Shore-Barrington Association of Realtors. Corral's three-year term on the NSBAR board began Sept. 15. Corral moved to the Chicago area from Florida, in 2005, and currently lives in Lake Zurich. He earned his real estate license and joined RE/MAX in 2007. Three years later he and a partner acquired RE/MAX United of Wheeling and later opened a second office in Round Lake Beach. RE/MAX United currently has a roster of 30 affiliated brokers.

• The National Recreation and Park Association named longtime board member Stephen Eckelberry, a 20-year commissioner for the Bartlett Park District, as chairman of its 2016-2017 board of directors. A member of the board since 2012, Eckelberry has an extensive amount of leadership experience having served on a variety of committees and commissions and in a number of leadership roles for the Illinois Park and Recreation Association and Illinois Association of Park Districts. Professionally Eckelberry is a technology manager for the Western DuPage Special Recreation Association in Carol Stream.

• Maine West High School Senior Theresa Li earned an Honorable Mention for a photo she entered in the 2016 ADAPT High School Physics Photo Contest. For the last three years, students in Maine West's Physics Accelerated classes have been participating in the contest, which consists of a student taking a picture of physical phenomenon and then writing a description of the physics in the picture. Internationally, the American Association of Physics teachers contest draws more than 1,000 entries per year. Theresa's photo "Duck Interference" can be seen on the AAPT website at goo.gl/PlUtDc.

• U.S. Air Force Airman Ian T. Willis, son of Tony and Abby Willis of Hanover Park, graduated from basic military training at Joint Base San Antonio-Lackland, San Antonio. The airman completed an intensive, eight-week program that included training in military discipline and studies, Air Force core values, physical fitness, and basic warfare principles and skills. Willis is a 2016 graduate of Lake Park High School, Roselle.
