WHAT'S AT STAKE
Only Western Michigan's best season in more than 70 years. Ranked in the AP Top 25 for the first time in school history, Western Michigan has knocked off two Big Ten teams this season, just three years removed from an 1-11 season. Akron has won nine of its last 11 games and six straight in conference, the longest winning streak for the Zips since joining the MAC in 1992.
KEY MATCHUP
Western Michigan WR Corey Davis vs. Akron defensive backs. Davis broke the WMU record for touchdowns and is being touted by the school as a Heisman Trophy candidate. In the win over Northern Illinois last week, he finished with six catches for 122 yards and two touchdowns - including a highlight reel one-handed grab of a TD pass. He's got 36 receptions for 589 yards and is second in the FBS with eight touchdowns this season.
PLAYERS TO WATCH
Western Michigan: QB Zach Terrell. The senior has been efficient running the Broncos' offense, compiling a 71 percent completion rate (4th in the nation) and throwing 15 touchdown passes. His quarterback rating of 188.2 is third in the nation.
Akron: QB Tra'Von Chapman. The backup quarterback subbing for injured starter Thomas Woodson threw for three touchdowns in the win over Miami last week and contributed another 80 yards rushing.
