Buffett 'Margaritaville' musical set for 2017 Chicago premiere

Prepare yourself parrot-heads: "Escape to Margaritaville," a Broadway-bound jukebox tuner featuring the music of singer-songwriter Jimmy Buffett, will debut in Chicago next year.

Producers announced Tuesday the musical will begin a pre-Broadway tryout Nov. 9, 2017, at the Oriental Theatre, 24 W. Randolph St., Chicago.

Set at a tropical resort, the story centers on a songwriter/bartender whose encounter with a career-driven female tourist makes him question his carefree lifestyle.

The score consists of Buffett classics along with originals. The book is by Greg Garcia ("My Name is Earl") and Mike O'Malley ("Shameless").

Tickets for groups of 10 or more are available online at BroadwayinChicago.com or by phone (312) 977-1710. Individual tickets will go on sale at a later date.
