League of Women Voters celebrates National Voter Registration Day

The League of Women Voters of the Arlington Heights, Mount Prospect and Buffalo Grove Area registered voters at the Arlington Heights train station in celebration of National Voter Registration Day on Tuesday, Sept. 27.

Felix Garkisch, August Graham, David Korakiewicz and Connor DuShane from Boy Scout Troop 132 assisted League members Mary Mason, Shannon Silverman and Heidi Graham as they registered voters.

The League utilized the newest voter registration technology to register voters online and to assist citizens to confirm their registration status. In Illinois, anyone with a valid driver's license or state ID card and the last four digits of their social security number can register online. Visit vote411.org for more information.

Additionally, mock elections at Buffalo Grove, Elk Grove, and Prospect high schools and Thomas Middle School are also being planned with the help of equipment obtained by the League. To arrange a mock election for your school between now and Oct. 21, contact League board member Heidi Graham at (847) 687-2497.
