Palatine Park District to host its Fall Festival

Palatine Park District's 19th annual Fall Festival is from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 8, at Palatine Stables, 1510 W. Northwest Hwy.

The first 1,000 people to arrive will receive a free goody bag. Admission and parking are free; fees apply for some activities and dogs are not allowed. For a complete list of the day's events, visit palatineparks.org.

Activities include a petting zoo, wagon rides, pony rides, make and take crafts, riding demonstrations by the Palatine Stables Show Team, a kids zone with bounce houses and games, seasonal craft vendors, business and sponsor booths, and live entertainment.

Radio station 100.3, WSHE FM, will have a Trick-or-Treat Truck with free candy from noon to 2 p.m. The Meadowlark Stage will feature free entertainment with a Band Called Catch at noon and family musician Leonardo at 3 p.m. Concessions will be available for purchase.

The third annual Scarecrow Contest will be from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. For $10, participants will be given a scarecrow frame, a small burlap sack, and a bag of straw. Additional clothing and decorating items will be available as well, or decorations and clothing can be brought to the event.

Awards will be announced at 3:45 p.m.
