Boys soccer: Second-half surge lifts Grayslake Central

Grayslake Central scored five goals in the second half, including Nick Walker's 12th and 13th of the season, and beat Wauconda 5-1 in a Northern Lake County Conference finale on Tuesday night.

Leo Orozco tallied 3 assists, while Randy Betancourth, Juan Mata and Austin Rockel also scored. Rockel had an assist, as well.

It was the fifth win in a row for Grayslake Central (12-5-1, 5-2). Greg Madjarov got the win in net in his first varsity start.

Lakes 8, North Chicago 0: Cam Beezley had 3 goals and 3 assists, and Nick Dydo also had a hat trick, as the Eagles built a 7-0 lead by halftime of their Northern Lake County Conference finale.

Wade Parmly and Danny Wieczorek each played a half in goal and had 3 saves apiece for Lakes' eighth shutout of the season. Sean O'Brien added a goal and 2 assists. Zach Dydo scored off an assist from Matthew Mercure in the second half.

Lakes (9-8) finished 5-2 in the NLCC.

Grayslake North 2, Antioch 0: Cristian Guerrero scored a goal in each half of the Northern Lake County Conference match for the Knights (8-7-1).

Josian Martinez assisted on Guerrero's first goal. Guerrero knocked in a free kick in the second half. Josh Suicu made 3 saves in net in earning the shutout.

Antioch fell to 7-11-2 and 2-4.

Round Lake 6, Grant 1: The host Panthers scored 5 second-half goals, including a pair by Alejandro Sotelo, to complete their Northern Lake County Conference schedule with a 7-0 record.

Jorge Martinez, Hector Tellez, Erik Alvarez and Kevin Gomez also scored for Round Lake (12-1-3). Alvarez had an assist, as well.

Xander Barillas scored for Grant.

Stevenson 2, New Trier 0: The Patriots got first-half goals from Anthony Watrach and Ben Brandt in the nonconference match,

Joel Fleming and Ryan McGrogan had assists for Stevenson (9-5-2), and Ethan Kalis notched his fifth shutout.

Lake Forest Academy 3, Warren 1: Carlos Mirillo had the lone goal, off an assist from Thomas Macheras for the Blue Devils in the nonconference match.

Jeffery Pioquinto made 3 saves in net for Warren (14-4-2).
