Carol Stream Seniors Bike to Raise Funds for Alzheimer's

The residents at Belmont Village Senior Living in Carol Stream along with staff and families gathered on September 15 for the Bike to End Alzheimer's fundraiser, a 12-hour marathon relay on stationary bikes to raise awareness and funds for Alzheimer's research. Relay participants took turns riding one of the three stationary bikes from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. The longest bike rider of the event was 109-year-old resident, Merle Phillips who rode for a total of four hours. The Mayor of Carol Stream and a Village Trustee also joined in on the bike riding. The event raised more than $800. 100% of the proceeds go to the Alzheimer's Association Greater Illinois Chapter, to help with research and the work that they do for Chicago-area families. A check will be presented to the Alzheimer's Association by Belmont Village staff and top resident riders later this month.
