Hampshire-Henpeck HCE to learn about dietary guidelines

Hampshire-Henpeck Unit of Home and Community Education will meet at 12:30 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 18, at Heartland Bank, Route 72 and Warner, Hampshire.

October is an exciting and busy month for the unit. They will welcome a guest speaker, Mary Carol MacDonald, Community Health at Presence St. Joseph Hospital in Elgin. Topics will include new dietary guidelines, eating right and food label changes, with time for questions and answers. All are invited to attend. Hostesses for this month are Frances Stuehler and Marilyn Dorsey.

Hope you have a chance to visit the Hampshire-Henpeck HCE display at the Heartland Bank for HCE Week, Oct. 10-16. Stop by the open house from noon to 3 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 12, at the Extension office, 535 S. Randall Road, St. Charles. You will have a chance to meet with the directors and officers of Home and Community Education and view displays and projects from Kane County units.

Peggy Veach gave an informative presentation, with supplementary materials, entitled "A Spoonful of Sugar? No! A Spoonful of Honey" with discussion session afterward.

Registration and fees of $30 for the County International/New Member Luncheon on Wednesday, Nov. 9, will be due. The country of study is Ecuador. Enjoy an Ecuadorian buffet lunch at La Humita Restaurant. Bus service is included in the price of lunch.
