Second Annual STEM Expo Tickets Available Student Excellence Foundation Event Takes Place on November 4

Featuring hands-on experiments that demonstrate science, technology, engineering and math concepts, the second annual STEM Expo presented by the Student Excellence Foundation of Wheaton-Warrenville District 200 will take place from 6 until 9 pm at Hubble Middle School (3s600 Herrick Road; Warrenville) on Friday, November 4. Interested families are encouraged to reserve a space quickly, as last year's Expo sold out quickly.

Designed with elementary and middle school students in mind, the STEM Expo includes opportunities for students to interact with representatives of more than 20 businesses, organizations, and groups including:

Adler Planetarium: 'Scopes in the City', Argonne National Labs: Educational Programs, Beckatt Solutions, DuPage Children's Museum, Fermilab Education Office, Forest Preserve District of DuPage County, Front Street Dance Center, Hawthorne Ecology Club, Lincoln Marsh Natural Area, Lizzadro Museum of Lapidary Art, Longfellow Coding and STEM Club - Longfellow Elementary School, Tony Majszak, NIU STEM Outreach, PWNAGE VEX Robotics, PWNAGE Robotics - FRC Team 2451, SCARCE, SciTech Hands-on Museum, Two Beekeepers, Weber Orthodontics, Wheaton Chemistry Society, Society of Physics Students (SPS), Wheaton Public Library, and Wheaton Sanitary District

While there is no admission fee to attend the Expo, a $5 donation is suggested. Proceeds will further the Foundation's goal of enriching education in Wheaton-Warrenville District 200. An acronym for Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math education, STEM is characterized by its interdisciplinary approach and hands-on, real-world learning which allows students to retain more of what they are taught. The 2016 STEM Expo is made possible through the generosity of BrightStar Care and Weber Orthodontics.

The Student Excellence Foundation for Wheaton-Warrenville District 200 was founded in 1992 as a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization. The foundation engages the community to enrich educational opportunities for District 200 students with Student Excellence Grants, future-ready learning resources, STEM materials, enrichment programs, and the annual Distinguished Teacher Awards. It serves more than 1,000 educators and 13,000 students (grades K-12) and is run by parent and community volunteers.
