COD Honors Military at Sept. 24 Armed Forces Bowl

Warm weather and local sports action drew hundreds of guests to College of DuPage for the Chaparrals annual Armed Forces Bowl. Click here to view more photos and a video from the event.

The game featured the Chaparral gridders facing the Georgia Military Academy Bulldogs as well as appearances by the Navy Band Great Lakes and the East Aurora High School NJROTC drill team and color guard. Chaparral Head Coach Matt Foster also presented a game ball to friends of Robert J. Miller, an Army staff sergeant from Wheaton killed in action overseas and for whom the College's Homeland Security Education Center is named. The visiting Bulldogs triumphed over the home team 24-12, ending the Chaparrals three-game winning streak.

The Armed Forces Bowl is the first of three special recognition games planned as part of the Chaparrals 2016-2017 season. Additional special games throughout the season include recognitions of WSDRA athletes (Oct. 8) and first responders (Oct. 24). COD players and members of their opponent's team will also complete community service projects in conjunction with the College's inaugural Red Grange Bowl on Dec. 3. In addition, the Chaparrals will host 2016 Homecoming festivities on Oct. 1. For more information on COD Chaparral Football, click here.
