Postcard plan up for discussion

A Lake County Forest Preserve District committee will meet Monday to discuss a plan to donate the district's renowned Curt Teich Postcard Archives to the Newberry Library in Chicago. The education, cultural resources and public affairs committee is set to take up the issue at 8:30 a.m. at the district's headquarters, 1899 W. Winchester Road, Libertyville. The collection had been housed at the Lake County Discovery Museum near Wauconda, but that facility is relocating to Libertyville. The collection includes more than 3.5 million postcards. It is regarded as the largest public collection of postcards and related materials in the world, and a premier source of images from the 20th century.
