Reds thrash Gamba to maintain lead in J-League standings

TOKYO (AP) - The Urawa Reds thrashed Gamba Osaka 4-0 Saturday to maintain its lead in the J-League's second-stage standings.

Toshiyuki Takagi scored in the first half while Yuki Muto, Tomoya Ugajin and Zlatan Ljubijankic added goals after the break as Urawa improved to 34 points with three rounds remaining.

The winners of each stage and top three clubs of the aggregate table will qualify for the championship in November.

Gamba had beaten Reds in its last four meetings, including last season's championship playoff and the Emperor's Cup final. It is in third place, seven points behind Urawa.

Also, Shigeru Yokotani scored twice as Omiya Ardija beat first-stage winners Kashima Antlers 3-1.

Albirex Niigata beat Jubilo Iwata 2-1.
