Boys soccer: Libertyville blanks Andrew

Ryan Wittenbrink scored twice, and Libertyville's boys soccer team shut out visiting Andrew 3-0 in a nonconference match Saturday.

Gregory Krikorian also scored, while Evan Rasmussen and Austin Becker each added an assist to help the Wildcats improve to 9-3. Brant Kym (5 saves) and Liam Hettinger (2 saves) combined on the shutout.

Stevenson 1, Deerfield 0: Jake Nunez scored off an assist from Anthony Watrach in the first half, as the Patriots won the shortened nonconference match.

Stevenson improved to 8-5-2.

Grayslake Central 3, St. Francis 2: The Rams improved to 11-5-1 by coming up with 3 second-half goals against the Spartans in a nonconference matchup.

Nick Walker had 2 of those goals, giving him 11 this fall.

"We came out flat in the first half, and St. Francis did a good job of finding through balls to challenge our back line," said Grayslake Central coach Tom Hamilton. "In the second half we stepped up the pressure and played with purpose in possession.

"Credit to the Spartans - they fought well and nearly tied it up at the end. Fortunately, we showed some character in the second half to grind out the win. But we need to start playing like that for 80 minutes every day."
