Redskins' Norman fined $48,620 for hit vs. Giants receiver

NEW YORK (AP) - Washington Redskins cornerback Josh Norman was fined $48,620 by the NFL on Friday for his unnecessary roughness foul on New York Giants wide receiver Sterling Shepard last week.

Norman is a repeat offender who was fined more than $26,000 last season for his tussles with Giants receiver Odell Beckham Jr. Last Sunday, Norman hit Shepard near the head and neck area.

Also from that game, Giants center Weston Richburg was docked $12,154 for his unsportsmanlike conduct after being ejected. New York safety Andrew Adams was fined $9,115 for hitting a Redskins player who was out of bounds during a punt.

San Francisco's Eli Harold was fined $18,231 for his horse collar penalty that resulted in Seattle quarterback Russell Wilson spraining the medial collateral ligament in his left knee.

Buffalo linebacker Jerry Hughes was docked $9,115 for ripping off the helmet of Arizona quarterback Carson Palmer after he was already sacked by Lorenzo Alexander.

San Diego offensive lineman Chris Hairston was fined $24,309 after he argued with an official and then bumped into him during a game against Indianapolis. Hairston was flagged for unsportsmanlike conduct.

Houston wide receiver Jaelen Strong was hit with a $9,115 fine after he was assessed a personal foul for slapping New England cornerback Cyrus Jones in his facemask after a play.
