Lutheran school in Mount Prospect wins coveted Blue Ribbon

St. Paul Lutheran School in Mount Prospect is the latest Northwest suburban school to earn a National Blue Ribbon from the U.S. Department of Education.

Each year the Education Department designates Schools of Excellence, based on high academic standards and achievement.

Other Northwest suburban schools honored this year include three in Barrington - Grove Avenue School, Countryside School and St. Anne Parish School.

St. Paul Lutheran is just one of 50 private schools to be recognized in 2016.

"The award affirms the hard work of students, educators, families and communities in creating safe and welcoming schools where students master challenging content," St. Paul officials wrote in a news release.

They added this award confirms what St. Paul officials already know.

"Our school is one where students truly learn and grow," the statement continues. "We are so thankful for the dedication and support of our faculty, parents, church and community."

The Department of Education will honor St. Paul Lutheran and the other National Blue Ribbon Schools with an awards ceremony in Washington, D.C., on Nov. 7 and 8.
