Hoffman Estates offering flu shots

The Hoffman Estates Department of Health and Human Services will offer the Quadrivalent vaccine for adults and children six months and older, which protects against four strains of flu.

A high-dose flu vaccine will be available for seniors ages 65 and older.

Adult flu shots will be offered by appointment only from 10 a.m. to noon Monday, Oct. 10, at Hoffman Estates village hall, 1900 Hassell Road.

The adult flu vaccine costs $25 (cash or check only; Medicare Part B accepted).

Children's flu shots will be offered from 3:30 to 5:45 p.m. on Monday, Oct. 3, also at village hall. The cost is $10, or free with Medicaid. Health and Human Services won't carry nasal mist flu vaccine as new studies have shown lower effectiveness than the flu shot.
