Girls volleyball: Wauconda, Lakes win in Northern Lakes

Sophomore Lauren Sexton slammed 8 kills, and Wauconda's girls volleyball team beat host Grayslake North 25-22, 25-12 in Northern Lake County Conference action Thursday night.

Nicole Carazas added 6 kills and 2 aces for Wauconda (9-10, 3-1), while Gabby Fugle chipped in 5 kills. The Bulldogs also got contributions from Jane Sakowicz (12 digs), Aimee Berg (11 assists, 5 digs), Summer Olsen (13 assists), Amanda Mason (4 kills), Hayley Redmann (4 kills), Erica Miller (2 aces) and Sam Sasin (3 kills).

Grayslake North (2-2 NLCC) received 6 kills from Abby Fish. Taylor Johnston notched 8 digs, Erin McBriarty lofted 8 assists, and Taylor Ebersohl posted 3 blocks.

Lakes d. Grayslake Central: Kelly Zeason had 9 kills, as the Eagles handed the Rams their first loss in Northern Lake County action, rallying for a 25-27, 25-17, 25-15 win.

Katie Billetdeaux, McKenna Lahr (9 digs) and Erica Grant (2 blocks) added 8 kills apiece for Lakes, which improved to 3-1 in the NLCC. The Eagles' other contributors included Kaylee Lebron (3 kills, 1 ace, 2 blocks), Rachel Orpano (36 assists, 4 digs), Paige Bartlett (1 ace, 14 digs), Alyssa Bombicino (6 digs) and Toyin Jackson (6 digs).

Cassidy Beshel (3 blocks) and Morgan Anderberg each had 7 kills for Grayslake Central (12-12, 3-1). Amber Moser added 5 kills, while Lauren LaBeck had 10 assists and 4 kills. Lizzie Twardock dished out 12 assists for the Rams.
