Date set for fourth annual March For Life

The nonprofit group Northwest Families for Life announced plans for its fourth annual March for Life at 2 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 15. Activities will begin inside St. Theresa Church, 455 N. Benton St., in Palatine.

After a gathering prayer and motivational talk, marchers will then proceed about ½ mile to the Rita Mullins Volunteer Plaza at Northwest Highway and Hicks Road for a pro-life rally.

Organizers Maria Goldstein and Laura Vandercar say the purpose of the March for Life is to bring together families to witness to the beauty and dignity of all life. Members of area churches and pro-life organizations will be in attendance and Goldstein notes, "All people and all faiths are welcome. Last year, more than 800 people united for life.

"Participants will be able to carry family-friendly signs and spread life-affirming messages of hope as they listen to incredible speakers whose very lives witness to the dignity of life," said Goldstein.

The theme for this year's march is "Life is a Gift."

"Given all that is happening in our world, it is clear that families desire this opportunity to come together to bear witness to the sanctity of every human life, from the tiniest baby to the beloved great-grandmother," Vandercar said.

She asks everyone to wear something yellow to the event "because it is a cheerful color and life is definitely something to be cheerful about."

Immediately following the rally at the plaza, all are invited back to St. Theresa for complimentary refreshments provided by the Knights of Columbus and Ladies Auxiliary.

Northwest Families for Life is an all-volunteer organization dedicated to uniting pro-life individuals for prayer and peaceful vigils to end abortion and witness to the dignity of all life.
