Schaumburg Library Names New Executive Director

Schaumburg Township District Library's Board of Trustees has named Monica Harris as the Library's next executive director.

"Monica is a library innovator with strengths in managing both people and projects," said Board President Julie Wroblewski Bosshart. "We look forward to seeing her in her new role."

Monica Harris currently serves as Schaumburg Library's deputy director, and succeeds outgoing executive director Stephanie Sarnoff who is retiring at the end of 2016.

"I am so grateful to have worked with Stephanie Sarnoff over the past three years," Harris said. "I hope to apply the lessons of leadership that she shared as we look forward and continue to provide the very best library for our community."

Monica Harris joined the team at Schaumburg Library in December 2013. She has more than 10 years of library experience, including more than five years locally at Oak Park Library. Harris holds a Master of Library and Information Science from Wayne State University. She is an active member of Illinois Library Association and American Library Association, currently serves on multiple Public Library Association committees and is an executive board member for Libraries of Illinois Risk Agency.

Harris will begin her duties as executive director at Schaumburg Library on January 2, 2017.
