Impact 100 Chicago's Suburban Chapter names news president; appoints new board members

Impact 100 Chicago, a women's organization that awards $100,000 grants to Chicago area nonprofits, announced the appointment of Palatine resident Kathy Loria as president of the organization's Suburban Chapter. Four new board members have also been appointed: Gina Turner (Cary) as Secretary, Kyle Kick (Barrington) as Grant Relations Co-Chair, Jennifer Frighetto (Barrington) as Public Relations and Social Media Chair and Sue Randall (Deer Park) as Member Relations Chair.

Returning board members for the 2016 - 2017 grant cycle are:

Terri Colby Moore (Barrington) - Treasurer

Susan Morris (Barrington) - Communications Chair

Sarah Dowdy (Barrington) - Membership Chair

Sarah Giunchedi (Barrington) - Recruitment Chair

Sue Key (Lake Zurich) - Grant Relations Co-Chair

Deb Gammon (Long Grove) - Financial Review Co-Chair

Tracy Leiser (Bartlett) - Financial Review Co-Chair

Glenna Waxler (Barrington) - Events Chair

Michele Polvere (Barrington) - Immediate Past President

Impact 100 Chicago members pool their $1,000 membership donations to award $100,000 grants to nonprofits in the Chicagoland area. Focus areas for the 2016-2017 grant cycle awards are Culture, Education, Family, Health, and Sustainability.

"Serving as our Impact 100 Chicago Suburban Chapter president is an honor and a privilege," said Loria, a member of the organization since 2012 and a board member since 2014. "I'm excited to work with our energetic and passionate Board to further Impact 100 Chicago's mission. We look forward to welcoming new Impact 100 Chicago members, along with our returning members, from throughout the Chicago area and working together to help nonprofits turn their projects into reality."

More than 250 area nonprofits applied for an Impact 100 Chicago grant during the 2015-2016 grant cycle. After comprehensive reviews and site visits by Impact 100 Chicago committees, nonprofit finalists presented at Impact 100 Chicago's annual Grant Award Celebrations, where members voted for the $100,000 grant recipients. In 2016, Impact 100 Chicago's Suburban Chapter awarded $210,000 with $100,000 Impact grants given to the Community Crisis Center in Elgin and Chicago-based Inspiration Corporation. Merit grants of $5,000 were awarded to the Juvenile Protective Association and New Moms, Inc.
